Engineering Living Learning Community (E3)
Engineers Exuding Excellence (E3) Living Learning Community in the Jester West Residence Hall provides first-year engineering male students with the opportunity to live together in a supportive, residential community. Weekly seminars consist of in-depth discussions, presentations and activities to help the cohort transition to college.
ESSC Hospitality
ESSC Hospitality provides undergraduate students with a professional networking opportunity in an informal and spirited environment. With the Texas Alumni & Engagement Center as the setting, corporate partners are highly visible to students from the EOE and WEP communities. Engineering students get the opportunity to create a second impression after visiting companies at the Fall EXPO.
EOE Tutoring Program
The EOE Tutoring Program provides free one-on-one tutoring anywhere on campus for up to 2 hours per student. This tutoring program is designed to meet the specific academic needs of individual students and can be applied for online.
EOE and WEP FIGs
In continuation of the investment of the first-year experience of first-year engineering students, First-Year Interest groups are designed to create a sense of community within a cohort model of 18-25 first-year students taking 2-4 classes during their first semester of college. Facilitated by the program coordinator and led by a fellow peer mentor, the EOE and WEP FIGs promote community development within Cockrell students by mitigating challenges that impact a first-year student’s attrition rate within their college. FIG seminars are held every week, and during their seminar, they are provided with different workshops from academic support to social support and everything in between.
EOE and WEP Lunch & Learns
Corporate partnerships play a vital role in enriching the college experience and preparing students for successful careers. By facilitating interactions between students and corporate representatives, EOE and WEP have been able to provide students with valuable opportunities for career exploration, skill development and professional networking. The valuable impacts of having lunch and learns for our students include promoting insight into certain industries, career exposure and fostering networking opportunities to enhance a student’s sense of post-graduation readiness.
Graduate School Mini-Series
The Graduate School Mini-Series immerses undergraduates into the world of graduate school with sessions led by graduate study experts, including professors, current students and graduate program coordinators. Through this series, students learn about engineering graduate admission requirements, scholarships and research opportunities to ensure graduate success.
