The Cockrell School of Engineering holds a graduation ceremony each May to honor the undergraduate degree candidates of the entire academic year (past fall, current spring and future summer). Participation (“crossing the stage”) in the graduation ceremony is optional.

Event Details
May 2026 participants include December 2025 graduates and potential degree candidates for May 2026 and August 2026. Additional details for the May 2026 ceremony are still being finalized – check back soon!
- Graduates will need to purchase regalia.
- All guests attending must have a unique, individual ticket to enter the Moody Center for the Cockerell School of Engineering ceremony, Friday, May 8, 2026. Degree candidates will provide their guest(s) with a ticket.
- The ceremony will last approximately 2.5 hours. Out of respect for all graduates, please plan to be present until the end of the ceremony.
- A Livestream viewing of the ceremony will be available on the day of the event.
- Map of venue for recommended entry points and road closures.
- Note: separate tickets are required for the University-wide Celebration on Saturday, May 9, 2025
What to Expect

The Engineering Undergraduate Student Convocation consists of a guided path through the event space, where graduates will enter the ceremony stage, cross the ceremony stage, take a professional graduation photo and enjoy a shared speaker. Convocation will be streamed live to allow the moment to be shared with extended family and friends.
- What to bring to the Moody Center
Graduation candidates cannot bring personal items such as backpacks, purses or coats to the Moody Ceremony. There is no secure area in which to leave them. We recommend carrying cell phones and keys on wristbands or clothing with pockets. - Arrival at the Moody Center
The Cockrell School will be hosting the event at the Moody Center. The venue policies in place are not at the discretion of the Cockrell School. Comfortable shoes are recommended for all attendees, as there are ramps and stairs. All guests will need a ticket. - Share your experience #CockrellGrad
Posts you share will be seen during Commencement weekend by your friends and family, so send us your point of view. We are here for it. - Cross over the stage
Students get to cross the stage with their friends and peers from their programs and have their names called, with department faculty in attendance to celebrate. - Take a professional graduation photo
A professional photographer will take formal photos of students on and off stage. - Exit the east exit and re-join your friends/family

- Drop Off
An ADA and mobility-impaired passenger drop-off point is available in the roundabout on the northeast side of the Moody Center. From the I-35 frontage road, head west on Clyde Littlefield Drive, then south on Red River. Please notify personnel attending the entrance that passengers are ADA or mobility-impaired. - ADA Parking
All campus garages have ADA spaces. Guests and graduates with ADA plates or placards may use these spaces. East Campus Garage (ECG) will be designated as the suggested parking location for guests with mobility needs. - Accessible ADA Shuttles
East Campus Garage (ECG) will be designated as the suggested parking location for guests with mobility needs. A shuttle will run from ECG [1200 E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd] to active large-scale venues Thursday – Saturday.- The Shuttle will run from ECG to the Moody Center (MCA) on Thursday
- The Shuttle will run from ECG to MCA + Bass (BCH) on Friday
- The Shuttle will run from ECG to MCA, BCH and DKR on Saturday
- PTS Shuttle
PTS will loop shuttles from the San Antonio Garage (SAG) to the UNB to service ceremonies at Hogg on Friday and Saturday - Seating
Moody Center offers wheelchair-accessible and low-mobility seating on each level of the venue. In the wheelchair-accessible areas, there will be removable folding chairs, so wherever a wheelchair or scooter is needed, the folding chair will be removed. - Elevators
Available to guests with disabilities. Check with a Moody Center Guest Services member for assistance. - Wheelchairs
Mobility-impaired candidates or guests who cannot walk more than 5 feet comfortably are strongly encouraged to bring a wheelchair to the event. Local health supply rental companies can provide rental wheelchairs.- The Moody Center has a very limited number of wheelchairs on hand at the entry doors. Guests who require additional assistance because of a limitation in mobility can request wheelchair transport from the entry doors of the arena to their seating location. A Guest Services member will escort guests to their seats and arrange a pick-up time to escort them to their departure if desired.
- This service is available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be requested from any team member at the entry doors. Please note that arena wheelchairs cannot be left with guests during the event.
- The Moody Center has a very limited number of wheelchairs on hand at the entry doors. - Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive Listening Devices are available and complimentary to guests for all arena events. Headsets and receivers can be checked out at the Guest Services booth on the Main Concourse.

Lot 37 at the northwest corner of Red River St. and Clyde Littlefield Dr. is the ONLY approved rideshare drop-off point near the Moody Center. Set your destination as 2298 Red River St, Austin, TX 78705. The driver should inform traffic control staff that they are accessing the Moody Center’s graduation rideshare location.
The University coordinates professional photos of each graduation candidate as they cross the stage to be congratulated during the ceremony. Graduates and families have the option of purchasing photographs. There is no obligation to do so. Flash Photography provides free color proofs to each graduate.

All candidates must submit their information to graduate before April 10, 2026, to be included in the program.
