Christopher Carlton, a materials science and engineering doctoral student, received the Silver Award from the Materials Research Society (MRS) for his significant observations and imaging of silver nanoparticles undergoing the deformation process. He presented his research at the 2007 MRS Fall Meeting in a paper co-authored by Oleg Lourie, executivevice-president of NanoFactory Instruments, and his supervising professor, mechanical engineer Dr. Paulo J. Ferreira.
