The University of Texas at Austin will offer an innovative Energy Finance Certificate (EFC) program at its Federal Reserve Bank campus in Houston, beginning this fall.

Faculty from the McCombs School of Business, the Cockrell School of Engineering and the Jackson School of Geosciences will partner to teach courses designed to offer executives and managers an      in-depth look at the economic strategy, business valuation and finance that are specific to the energy industry.

"The EFC offers a unique opportunity for managers to study current topics in the complex field of energy finance," said Chantal Delys, assistant dean for executive education at the McCombs School of Business. "We are excited to offer this leading-edge curriculum, and collaborating with the Cockrell School of Engineering and the Jackson School of Geosciences will give unmatched depth to the program."

The EFC consists of the following core programs: Foundations of Energy Finance, Oct. 22-23, 2007, and Advanced Energy Finance Analytics, Nov. 27-28, 2007.

The elective programs are: Business Valuation, Oct. 25-26, 2007; Economics and Technology of the Crude Oil, Natural Gas and LNG Value Chains, Nov. 29-30, 2007; Introduction to Technology and Economics of Electric Power, Feb. 4-5, 2008; Decision and Risk Analysis in Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production, Feb. 6-7, 2008; and External Stakeholders and Political Risk/Legal Risk in Emerging Energy Markets, April 10-11, 2008.

Houston is considered the center of the American energy industry, with over 5000 energy firms conducting business in the region.
