The Cockrell School of Engineering is once again among the top 10 engineering programs in the nation, finishing No. 7 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 graduate engineering program rankings, released today. In addition, three programs are ranked in the top five, seven in the top 10 and all programs finished in the top 25.
This year’s graduate program rankings are:
- Petroleum Engineering, No. 1
- Civil Engineering, No. 4
- Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering, No. 5
- Chemical Engineering, No. 7
- Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, No. 8
- Computer Engineering, No. 8
- Electrical Engineering, No. 10
- Mechanical Engineering, No. 11
- Materials Engineering, No. 17
- Nuclear Engineering, No. 17
- Industrial/Manufacturing/Systems Engineering, No. 21
- Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering, No. 21
- Overall Engineering, No. 7
There are more than 2,300 students enrolled in the Cockrell School’s 13 graduate degree programs, working alongside renowned engineering faculty to develop impactful solutions to global problems across more than 25 research units and centers.
U.S. News & World Report’s annual engineering graduate program rankings are based on student acceptance rates, faculty/student ratios, research expenditures, reputation among engineers in industry and academia, the number of doctoral degrees produced, the percentage of faculty elected to the National Academy of Engineering and entrance exam scores.
