Sights and Sounds of Cockrell Convocation 2026
Another great year full of education, research and innovation in the books.
More than 1,700 Texas Engineers made the next step of their journey, earning degrees from one of the top programs in the nation.
It was a week of celebration for our Texas Engineers, starting on May 8 when our Ph.D. candidates finished their long path. The next day, our master’s candidates walked the stage of the Moody Center to get their flowers and their degrees. And at the end of the night, more than 1,500 Texas Engineers undergrads did the same.

During the festivities, we honored this year’s Outstanding Scholar Leader, Krithik Vishwanath and this year’s class of Distinguished Engineering Graduates. One of those graduates, Intuitive Machines Co-Founder Tim Crain delivered the keynote address, urging this class to become “yes, if” engineers as opposed to a “no, because” mindset.
Following the ceremonies, our graduates signed off for the final time this year. And at such an important moment, it got them thinking about what’s next.
The festivities concluded on Saturday, May 10, when our undergraduates joined their colleagues from across the University to hear from Longhorn legend Colt McCoy at the UT-wide commencement ceremony. Were our students the loudest? You be the judge.
