Nov 12, 2025 1 minutes

Nine Texas Engineering faculty members are among the most cited researchers on the planet, according to a new report.

Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025 cataloged researchers with the most influential work in their field—the number of papers among the top 1% of citations. Texas Engineers on the list of 6,868 individuals across more than 1,300 institutions this year are: Deji Akinwande, Jeffrey G. Andrews, John B. Goodenough, Kara Kockelman, Nanshu Lu, Arumugam Manthiram, David Mitlin, Karen E. Willcox and Guihua Yu.

“We celebrate the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 for advancing innovation and inspiring the global research community to tackle society’s greatest challenges with creativity and ingenuity,” said Bar Veinstein, president of academia and government at Clarivate. “As research environments become more complex, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity by continuing to strengthen the foundations of our Highly Cited Researchers program.”

In addition to the current Texas Engineering faculty members on the list, several other researchers who are now at different institutions were recognized for work done at UT. They are Youhong Guo, Fei Zhao and Xingyi Zhou. Many of the Texas Engineers are listed as “cross-field,” underscoring the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of research at the Cockrell School and UT.
