
The Cockrell School of Engineering is once again among the top 10 engineering programs in the nation, finishing No. 6 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 graduate engineering program rankings, released today.
This year, two programs are ranked in the top five, six in the top 10 and all programs finished in the top 25. The Cockrell School is home to one of only four top-ranked programs at UT and two of the 13 top-five programs across the University.
This year’s graduate program rankings are:

- Petroleum Engineering, No. 1
- Civil Engineering, No. 4
- Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering, No. 7
- Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, No. 8
- Computer Engineering, No. 8
- Chemical Engineering, No. 9
- Electrical Engineering, No. 12
- Mechanical Engineering, No. 16
- Nuclear Engineering, No. 17
- Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering, No. 18
- Materials Engineering, No. 18
- Industrial/Manufacturing/Systems Engineering, No. 22
