Summer Bridge Program
The Summer Bridge Program aims to acclimate incoming first-year engineering students to the rigors of engineering coursework. It is designed to guide students as they transition from high school to college through academic review, mock exams, and engineering design projects, with a special focus on prep for 408C (Calculus I).
The Summer Bridge program runs for four weeks and is facilitated every summer. Participating students will stay on campus in a residence hall. Participants will create relationships with peers as they build strong study habits with the assistance of peer mentors. Faculty and staff from the Cockrell School of Engineering will also share tips for studying, time management and success.
Goals of the Summer Bridge Program
- Goal 1: Increase student retention by addressing early academic challenges through focused Calculus preparation.
- Goal 2: Cultivate a supportive academic environment by fostering engagement among students and faculty.
