How ESL Defines Wellness

Wellness encompasses physical, mental, emotional and social health. It includes promoting healthy lifestyles, providing access to resources for stress management and mental health support, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging personal development and academic success.

Our core values include:

  • Holistic health and wellness: understanding that the health of the whole person is important and linked to the health of our community
  • Community and collaboration: fostering a greater sense of community through collaboration that improves the health and wellness of the people we serve
  • Forward-thinking approaches: targeting and addressing root issues that lead to negative health outcomes
  • Student-focused service: ensuring that the student voice is the driving force in our work and decision-making
  • Data and assessments: using data to inform strategic decisions and new program development

About Bryni’s Love Foundation:

Bryni’s Love Foundation was established in 2022 to support mental wellness initiatives for students at the Cockrell School of Engineering. We honor the memory of Bryn Christine Howard, who graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Like many others, she faced challenges with anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we lost her in 2021. Our mission is to help Cockrell students navigate the stresses of daily life by providing the support they need.
