We are excited to announce the launch of the first annual Cockrell School awards for contributions to equity in engineering! The awards for contributions to equity in engineering are supported by the National Science Foundation-funded Center for Equity in Engineering.
Eight awards will be given to:
- 1 undergraduate student
- 1 graduate student
- 1 student organization
- 1 postdoc
- 1 student-facing staff member
- 1 non-student-facing staff member
- 1 professional-track faculty member
- 1 tenure-track faculty member
Each award will include $1,000 award to support the recipient's work promoting equity in engineering. You may nominate yourself or someone else. Nominations must be no more than 500 words and must include:
- How has the nominee demonstrated their commitment to social justice, diversity, equity and inclusion?
- What have they done to change the department, unit, Cockrell School of Engineering, and/or university culture to be more inclusive and equitable?
- How have they positively impacted the campus community or the wider community? (Examples include academic or extracurricular activities, outreach, education, special projects, team-building, event planning, training, support, administration, hiring, communications, coursework, special projects, student organization member development, sponsoring independent study, research, advising)
- What have they done outside of their role at UT-Austin that may be creating social change?
