Future Engineers Day

Future Engineers Day is a daylong event for students in grades 7-11 to learn about engineering through hands-on activities led and taught by Cockrell students.

Longhorn Engineering Summer Camp

The Longhorn Engineering Summer Camp is a free, interactive learning experience that will engage rising 8th and 9th graders in activities that promote the wide impact of engineering. Campers will experience for themselves how engineering mixes with art, sports, medicine, sustainability and more.

Celebrating Cockrell's Black Excellence

In celebration of Black History Month, join us as we hear from some of our top Texas Engineering Black alumni as they share their experiences as students, how they have navigated unique challenges in their careers and how they are promoting lasting change in society.

World of Engineering

World of Engineering is a free, open house-style outreach event for K-12 students and their families. Attendees can participate in engineering-based activities led by current UT Engineering students. Everyone is welcome to attend. Students who attend schools without engineering courses or extra-curricular activities are particularly encouraged to participate.

2021 Women in STEM Conference

Beginning Monday, February 15, and running through Friday, March 26, the 2021 Women in STEM Conference is an initiative of the Cockrell School's Women in STEM Leadership Collaborative. The Women in STEM Leadership Collaborative connects student organizations and programs across UT Austin that are focused on women in STEM, providing opportunities for collaboration, leadership development and other initiatives in STEM across the university. The Women in STEM Leadership Collaborative is made possible thanks to the generous support of 3M and the Women in Engineering Program.

"Picture a Scientist" Movie Screening and Panel Discussion

The Cockrell School of Engineering is collaborating with the College of Natural Sciences, the College of Pharmacy and the Jackson School of Geosciences to offer special screenings of the recently released "Picture a Scientist" documentary, accompanied by a panel discussion that will include, among others, Nancy Hopkins, MIT Professor Emerita, and one of the women whose story is told in the movie.

Fall 2020 Inclusive Teaching and Learning Symposium

The sixth biannual Inclusive Teaching and Learning Symposium will take place October 27 and 29. This event will include interactive workshops that feature the expertise and experiences of UT instructors and staff and will give instructors of all levels and types actionable takeaways that can be applied in their learning spaces.

Seminar with Tyrone Porter: Cultural Tax: The Cost of Being the Only or the Few

In this October 21 seminar, Cockrell School professor of biomedical engineering Tyrone Porter offered his best prescription for confronting what can often be a silent burden and putting a stop to the cultural tax many pay.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Events

The Cockrell School's Cultural Awareness Committee celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with several events and activities between September 15 and October 15.
