Danny Reible, professor in environmental and water resources engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, has been selected to receive the 2011 Malcolm Pirnie/AEESP (Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors) Frontier in Research Award.

Danny Reible

The award is given annually to recognize an environmental engineering or science professor who has advanced the environmental engineering and science field through recognized research leadership and pioneering efforts in a new and innovative research area. Reible will receive a plaque and cash prize of $4,000.

Dr. Reible holds the Bettie Margaret Smith Chair of Environmental Health Engineering and is Director of the Center for Research in Water Resources. He is also a fellow of The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and received the L.K. Cecil Award from AIChE in 2001. Reible is a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, a Professional Engineer (LA) and in 2005 was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for the "development of widely used approaches for the management of contaminated sediments."

His research is focused on the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment, particularly the applications to the assessment and remediation of contaminated sediments and the sustainable management of water resources.
