Externships are typically held for one day during the week before the spring semester begins and are offered in major cities within the state of Texas. An externship visit usually includes presentations about the employer and career path options, a guided tour of facilities, interaction with alumni and young professionals and the opportunity to shadow an engineer at work.
Externships:
- Educate and excite students about working in engineering
- Market the participating company/organization and possible employment options to future engineers
- Help build relationships between organization representatives, recruiters and potential hires in an informal setting
- Give employers an opportunity to enhance their presence in the Cockrell School of Engineering
