Industry Super Bowl

The Industry Super Bowl provides students an opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals and learn about life in their chosen career field. Increasing students’ awareness of their possible career paths and what it takes to achieve their professional goals is an impactful way to increase their chances of success in the workforce.

Global Leaders Week

The major issues facing engineers today play out on a global stage. Each area requires expertise and content‐based knowledge along with an understanding of the broader, global impact – the cultural, political and economic forces that drive technology on a global stage. Global Leaders Week enables ESSC to expose students to regional global cultures, markets and engineering challenges. During the week, students will visit global cities and be exposed to host country industry and research laboratory experts, cultural and engineering leaders as well as interaction with local students and faculty. Partnering industries may host a local site visit in the countries that are visited.

Summer Research Academy

The Summer Research Academy gives students the opportunity to participate in an intensive research experience working alongside nationally and internationally recognized professors. Students conduct supervised research, meet graduate students in the program of their choice, attend research group or lab meetings and participate in special meetings designed to help students with future graduate school plans.

TEAM Oaxaca

Teaching Engineering Across Mexico (TEAM) – Oaxaca provides college students with cultural opportunities and the ability to engage in hands-on teaching experiences with middle school students in Oaxaca. Through interactive workshops and activities, engineering students will introduce fundamental engineering concepts to middle school students, inspiring them to explore and consider future careers in engineering. Apart from inspiring middle schoolers to learn about engineering, our students benefit from this cultural exchange program by engaging in cross-cultural communication and can gain cultural awareness through their interactions, not only with the schools but also with the communities.

UT Austin LeaderShape Institute

Since 1997, the LeaderShape Institute has been hosted by the Cockrell School. Its goal is to engage participants in a transformative experience and inspire them to create a just, caring and thriving world. The experience creates space for conversations and intentional instruction that challenge participants to explore their personal values in the context of community.

This program is delivered as a four-day immersive experience that produces leadership breakthroughs for both participants and facilitators on their campus, in their community or within their organization. Through self-assessment, intensive small group discussions, team-building challenges and more, participants will develop a vision for something they care about.
