Even with well designed Canvas courses and assessments, technology failures can disrupt sound pedagogy.

It is recommended that instructors schedule a time to test their own devices and their teaching workflow in the classroom they are assigned.

Note: The document camera is recommended for sharing written work. Writing on whiteboards does not show up well on camera in most cases.

If you are assigned a classroom in a non-engineering building you must coordinate with your department to contact that college’s technology support group.

Remote Instruction Configuration

In such instances where instructors will not be coming to campus, they can teach synchronously or asynchronously from their home or office using their laptop or desktop computer, a webcam (could be computer/laptop integrated), microphone, tablet and stylus. Learn how to use a phone as a document camera.

Lectures are delivered through Canvas live (and recorded) through Zoom or prerecorded with Panopto.

Broadband internet connection recommended.
